G. W. (BILL) ATKINS
Services for G. W. (Bill) Atkins, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. William B. Oden and the Rev. Charles Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in the Douglas Cemetery in Douglas under the direction of the Henniger-Allen Funeral Home.Atkins died Saturday morning (25 Jun 1983) in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born in Cleo Springs on Oct. 1, 1911, to Will and Mary Else Atkins. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1931 and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.
He married Mildred (Sallie) LeGrand in Enid on Christmas Day in 1937. In 1976 he retired from Vance Air Force Base, where he was supervisor of base maintenance. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and his parents. Survivors include: his wife, of the home; two daughters, Betty Atkins of Muskogee and Mrs. David (Gerry) Gray of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren, one brother, Arthur Atkins of St. Joseph, Mo, and one sister, Myrtle Schlottach of Amarillo, Texas.
George married Mildred Helen "Sallie" Legrand daughter of Stephen Benjamin Legrand and Ida Mae Campbell on 25 Dec 1938 in Enid, Garfield Co, OK. Mildred was born on 22 Apr 1913 in Douglas, Garfield Co, OK. She died on 21 Mar 1995 in Arlington, TX. She was buried in Douglas Union Cemetery, Garfield Co, OK.

SALLIE ATKINSThe funeral for Mildred H. "Sallie" Atkins, 81, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Drs. Robert B. Montgomery and Irvin L. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Douglas Cemetery under direction of Henniger-Allen Funeral Home.
She was born April 22, 1913, in Douglas to Stephen and Ida Campbell LeGrand and died Tuesday, March 21, 1995, at Arlington, Texas.
She married G. W. "Bill" Atkins Christmas Day 1937 in Enid. He died June 25, 1983. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Circle 1 of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Atkins of Bull Head City, Ariz., and Gerry Gray of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Richard LeGrand of Covington; and three grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church in Enid and/or Arlington, Texas.
