The first cemetery (Texhoma's First ) in the Texhoma area was 1 miles East and ½ North on the state line road, on the A.N. Edmonds land, now owned by the State of Oklahoma. Mr. Jesse Brown Riffe donated land for a new, larger cemetery which opened in January 1908, with Section 1 and through the years additional sections were opened. Some of the interments from the first cemetery were moved to the new one, but not all.

John married Medora Suran daughter of Cade, Jr. Suran and Martha Jane Shaw on 29 Aug 1881 in Topeka, KS. Medora was born on 9 Dec 1864 in IN. She died on 26 Mar 1950 in Stevens, TX. She was buried on 28 Mar 1950 in Texhoma Cemetery.
