1850 Census, Lincoln Co. NC, Page 187. Occupation: Carriage Maker. A James also appears on the Census 1850, Catawba, NC, Page 287 with his parents as 14 yrs. old. However, there is also a son called Jim from above info from LeAnn Turbyfill also married to a "Louise". Could this be the same person?

James married Louise Turbyfill daughter of Spencer Turbyfill and Susannah Linebarger before 17 Jul 1850. Louise was born about 1827 in Catawba, NC.

Marriage Index: MD, NC, VA 1824-1915, CD004.Joined the Confederate Army, Sergeant in Comany B, 23rd Regiment. Captured at Gettysburg in 1863 and confined at Fort Deleware and later transferred to Lookout Point, Maryland Camp. While in prison he carved tiny cups and saucers from peach seeds (pair now in museum). Transferred on February 18, 1865 to Boulvare's and Cox Wharves, where he was offered in a prisoner exchange.
Some time after 1880, Marcus and his wife, Emma, and their children moved to Indian Territory, OK not far from his brothers William and Julius.
Marcus married (1) Mary Emma Hoover daughter of David S. Hoover and Cynthia Robinson after 1870. Mary was born 1 on 15 Oct 1846 in NC. She died on 22 Apr 1930 in Ardmore, Ok. She was buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Ardmore, OK.

Census 1850, Catawba, NC, Page 287.Joined Confederate Army at age of fourteen. Was given the job of guard.
Left home with sister, Sarah age eight, and went to live with brother, Marcus, because they were not treated well by their father's third wife. Went west in 1875 with brother William and his wife, Margaret, and nephew, Frank P. Turbyfill, first to Texas and then to Oklahoma.
One day he was waiting in line at the cotton gin for his turn, and he heard the name "Turbyfill" called out. At the same time, two wagons started for the entrance to the gin. The other Turbyfill was his brother, Marcus, whom he had not seen since he left North Carolina.
During the funeral for Julius, his nephew, Frank P. Turbyfill, had a heart attach and died. They were buried in the same grave.
Julius married Sarah Matilda Biffle about 1876 in Cooke Co, TX. Sarah was born about 1855. She died in Roger Mills Co, OK.
