There has been some question as to James' middle name was it David or was it
Daniel. When he applied for his social security card he used the name of James Daniel. The marriage record in Mitchell County, North Carolina he used James D. In all the U.S. Census that I read he used James D., there is no record that his name was James David. So I am assuming it was James Daniel. One other reason is two of his daughters named sons with a middle name of Daniel.Also there is some disagreement when his birthday was. No.1 the 1880 U.S.
Census list him as 6 years old. The marriage recorded in Mitchell County,
North Carolina in Jan 1896 he stated on the marriage record that he was 20.
Also he was married before his tewnty-first birthay, which would have made him born in 1875. The birth date has remained the same, only the year has change. His death record stated that he was born 1 August 1872.There is information in the Anderson Co. S.C. Cemetery Surveys, Vol Three, page 59. The name of the cemetery is McKinney Private Cemetery Site. It list three male children as Frank, James and a McKinney Brother. I belive these are three of the James and Sarah McKinney's children that have not been found previously. The McKinney family had children by the same names.
